Lone Star College Foundation hit a hole-in-one for students at the 31st annual Drive for Scholarships Golf Tournament held Nov. 18, 2024 at The Woodlands Country Club. The event raised $175,550 to assist LSCS students in achieving their educational goals.

"The Drive for Scholarships Golf Tournament is more than just a day of golf; it shows how much we care about the next generation and their success," said Jon Scanlon, LSC Foundation golf tournament chair. "Together, we are opening doors to opportunities, creating pathways to success and strengthening the very fabric of our community."
The Drive for Scholarships Golf Tournament is one of LSC Foundation's major fundraisers, transforming lives for individuals like Sergio Iraheta, who earned an associate of arts degree from LSC-North Harris in 2023 and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from University of Houston in May. Today, Iraheta is pursuing a career in Human Resources and has plans to become an immigration attorney.
“My beginning started at Lone Star College System. As a non-native English speaker, I was scared to navigate higher education. But thanks to the amazing opportunities and resources received through the Foundation, I learned a new language and the skills to communicate with different people around the world, helping me to accomplish my goals without borders,” said Iraheta. “That encouragement has led me to travel the world, help the community and grow as a person.”

At the Drive for Scholarships Golf Tournament, money was raised to fund 42 scholarships, as well as educational programs, emergency relief programs and endowments. In addition, tournament sponsor Chesmar Foundation and 62 other sponsors and underwriters supported the golf tournament event.
