A Message from the Chancellor

In my third year as chancellor of the Lone Star College System, I am proud of the tremendous strides we have made to remove as many barriers as possible, helping our students achieve their educational goals.

With your generosity through the LSC Foundation, we were able to provide students in various academic and workforce programs with life-changing financial assistance and modern equipment that will catapult them into strong and successful careers.

While all initiatives are important, a major priority over the last year was to ensure no one had to choose between personal obligations and their education. As we interacted with students, we found that food insecurity caused many students to either drop out of school to work full-time or struggle to focus in the classroom, severely impacting their education.

Thanks to your support, the college system has fully stocked the food pantries at its main campuses, partnered with area food banks and offered food scholarships to students in need. This additional support service, as well as many others made possible by our generous donors, has led to system-wide positive student success scores over the last year, signaling that students are doing much better.

It is heartwarming to know that we have individuals and businesses who not only understand the importance of a quality college education but also act to ensure the future workforce is educated and trained in industries that keep our communities thriving. As you flip through this magazine and see how your neighbors have contributed to our students’ success, we encourage you to work with the LSC Foundation to see how you, too, can make a difference in a student’s life.
