Beginning with 613 students in 1973, LSC now welcomes more than 80,000 students each semester to its eight campuses, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and five satellite centers. The LSC University Center helps students who are interested in obtaining a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree all close to home.

LSC has a program that is right for you whether you are interested in earning credits to transfer to a four-year university or receiving a workforce certification. Get an education your way with in-person, online or hybrid classes, all designed to provide flexible and convenient options.

A Rich History

Learn how Lone Star College has been helping students Start Close and Go Far for more than 50 years.

Programs of Study

LSC offers 200+ degree and certification programs.

Students can pursue a general Associate of Arts (AA) degree or choose an area of specialization that prepares you to transfer to a Texas public university or college as a junior with the intention of declaring a major in the liberal or fine arts (English, History, others).

Students can also pursue a general Associate of Science (AS) degree or choose an area of specialization to prepare you to transfer to a Texas public university or college as a junior with the intention of majoring in the sciences (Math, Engineering, Biology Social/Behavioral Science, and others).

Continuing Education consists of fast track certificates or courses to quickly train students for a high-demand job. Programs focus on the key technical and behavioral skills needed in the targeted occupation. Each certificate program includes either industry-recognized certification, State or National occupational accreditation.

High School and Homeschool students can start earning college credit and workforce certifications thanks to LSC Dual Credit programs.

LSC now offers four bachelor's degrees: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity (BAT); Bachelor of Applied Science in Emergency Management (BAS-EM) and Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing and Trades Management (BAS-EMTM).

Community Update

Lone Star College has been redefining the community college experience to support student success for 50 years. Beginning with 613 students taking classes at Aldine High School to welcoming more than 80,000 students in over 20 locations each semester, the LSC story is one of tremendous foresight, academic growth and a determination to provide a high-quality education that is both affordable and close to home.
