JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION
HONORS LSC STUDENTS

Each year, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation awards its prestigious Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship to the nation’s top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at four-year colleges or universities. Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees – for the final two to three years necessary to achieve their bachelor’s degree.

This past year, the JKCF awarded Lone Star College students Lacy Butler, Angelica Bernal Penaloza and Madison Terry the highly coveted Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. These three students were selected from among 1,200 students from 332 community colleges who applied to receive the scholarship.

“Today, almost half of all college students begin their academic career at a community college,” said Seppy Basili, JKCF Executive Director. “We know our community colleges are full of high-achieving students and we’re committed to playing our part to ensure those students succeed.”

To date, 29 LSC students have been awarded the this scholarship since 2012.
