The Workforce of Tomorrow
Houston has long been known as the energy capital of the world, home to headquarters for virtually every segment of the energy industry. Factor in that nearly 1 in 3 manufacturers in Texas call Houston home, and the Port of Houston is one of the largest in the U.S., and you begin to understand the need for a highly trained workforce.
LSC works closely with industry partners, forming advisory committees to discuss the business needs of Computer Information Technology, Health Science and Manufacturing and Industrial Professions. These partnerships have led to LSC building state-of-the-art Workforce Centers of Excellence and helping employers access a qualified workforce.

Lone Star College workforce programs play an important role in ensuring the greater Houston area continues to keep the local economy strong. The Congressional Research Service recently reported that “increasingly, traditional education providers, especially those focused on career and technical education such as community colleges, have been involving the local business communities in program development to better match educational course offerings with the skills most sought after by local employers.”
LSC continues to look toward the future, providing employers with a pipeline to their most valuable commodity: human capital.
