Inclement weather did not stop Lone Star College Foundation from hosting its 29th annual Drive for Scholarships Golf Tournament in November 2022. The tournament is a major fundraising event that helps change lives through student scholarships and quality educational programs.

“The Lone Star College Foundation tournament offers a wonderful opportunity to support education in our community,” said Miranda Hadamik, LSC Foundation Board Member and 2023 golf tournament chair. “We appreciate the individuals and businesses who help our Lone Star College students succeed thanks to their time, money and resources.”

On The Woodlands Country Club Palmer and Tournament courses, more than 200 golfers and 51 volunteers helped LSC Foundation raise $154,010, which will fund 53 scholarships and add $14,376 toward educational programs and $21,324 to endowments. Additionally, 57 sponsors and underwriters supported the event, including Master sponsors Caldwell Companies, CCS Presentation Systems and Netsync.

“PBK was proud to support Lone Star College and Lone Star College Foundation as we partnered to shape the next generation of future learners,” said Alan Stilts, PBK Principal and 2022 golf tournament chair. “As we celebrate Lone Star College’s 50th Anniversary, it is a great time to reflect on how Lone Star College has helped students and the community thrive over the years.”

LSC Foundation Golf Scholarship assists students in reaching their educational goals. Sergio Iraheta (pictured), an LSC student and LSC Foundation scholarship recipient, immigrated from El Salvador with a dream of learning more about people internationally and their cultures. He enrolled in LSC to change the student body and contribute to communities in the greater Houston area.

“Attending Lone Star College has helped me in many ways, such as learning about the world. Over the summer, a group of us traveled to Puerto Rico, saw the difficulties that people faced and learned what we could do to help,” said Iraheta. “Lone Star College is not just a college; it is also a family to me.”

LSC Foundation provides 1,500 to 2,000 students with more than $2 million in scholarships annually. The Drive for Scholarships Golf Tournament is one of many significant efforts supporting students.
