Career choices
A major pillar of the LSC Strategic Plan & Goals is to “build strong, visible partnerships with independent school districts, institutions of higher education, civic and charitable organizations, local government agencies, businesses and industries to further strengthen a thriving community.”
One key collaboration is the Lone Star Corporate College Amazon Career Choice Educational Partner Network partnership. Amazon Career Choice is an innovative program uniquely designed to upskill Amazon employees who are interested in pursuing a future outside of Amazon.
“Amazon has a fantastic program to help their employees develop new skills,” said Linda Leto Head, LSC Senior Associate Vice Chancellor, Employer and External Relations. “They fully fund tuition for any full-time or part-time employee to take any course at Lone Star College.”
These courses are scheduled at convenient times for Amazon employees, to include options for classes starting after the busy holiday season and completion within 1 to 2 semesters.
Amazon Career Choice helps Amazon employees better understand the English language and other foundational skills to help them excel in their current role. It also provides education options that allow employees to start or continue earning credit toward a degree.

Amazon Career Choice was launched in 2012 and takes place in 14 countries (U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Costa Rica, Slovakia and Australia) with plans to expand into other international markets. To date, Amazon Career Choice has had more than 40,000 associates participate globally since inception with 30,000 in the U.S. alone.
Amazon Career Choice supports career paths in a variety of programs including Business and Professional Services; Energy, Manufacturing and Construction; Health Sciences; Information Technology and Transportation.
“In addition to the credit programs offered, Amazon also provides financial support for non-credit Fast Track programs including HVAC, Mechatronics and AWS Cloud Computing,” said Head.
By partnering with LSC to deliver training for high-demand careers, Amazon is proud to give eligible employees the tools they need to make a move and pursue their aspirations.
